Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement

Welcome to the Flax And Wool Designs accessibility statement. Our commitment is to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can access and use our website. This document outlines our current accessibility status, known issues, and steps we are taking to enhance the user experience for all.

Accessibility Features

We strive to make accessible to all users. You should be able to:

  • Adjust: Change colors, contrast levels, and fonts.
  • Zoom: Zoom in up to 300% without text spilling off the screen.
  • Navigate: Use a keyboard or speech recognition software to navigate the website.
  • Listen: Access the site using a screen reader, including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.

Current Accessibility Status

While we work towards maintaining a high level of accessibility, there are some areas that require improvement:

  1. Data Visualisation Tools: Some tools may not fully support all accessibility needs, particularly Microsoft Power BI.
  2. Radio Components: Certain pages with radio components may not consistently notify users when a conditionally revealed question is shown or hidden.
  3. PDF Accessibility: PDF copies of web page content and some content available only in PDFs may not be fully accessible.
  4. Excel Documents: Some Excel documents may present difficulties for screen reader and keyboard-only navigation.
  5. Embedded Videos: Third-party embedded YouTube videos may have inaccessible elements beyond our control.

Providing Feedback

We value your feedback. If you encounter any accessibility issues or require content in alternative formats, such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording, or braille, please contact us. We aim to respond within 20 days and will consider each request individually.

To report any accessibility problems not listed on this page or if you believe we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please report the issue to us.

Enforcement Procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations. If you encounter difficulties and find that we have not addressed your concerns, you can contact the EHRC.

Technical Information

Flax And Wool Designs is committed to complying with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018. Our website undergoes regular testing using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at levels A and AA.

Identified Issues and Remediation

Non-Accessible Content

Non-Compliance with Accessibility Regulations

  1. Data Visualisation Tools: We link out to source data within accessible Excel documents where data visualisation tools are used.
  2. Radio Components: We are addressing the issue of screen reader users not consistently being notified of conditionally revealed questions.
  3. PDF Accessibility: Efforts are being made to provide accessible HTML formats and clear messaging for PDFs published after September 2018.
  4. Excel Documents: New Excel documents are undergoing a process to ensure accessibility.
  5. Embedded Videos: We are working to improve accessibility issues related to embedded YouTube videos.

Content Not Within Accessibility Regulations Scope

  • Non-HTML Documents (Before September 2018): Documents published before this date are not required to be accessible unless users need them to use a service.

Testing Procedures

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at levels A and AA for testing. The Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC) conducted an audit in June 2023, identifying common issues, and we perform ongoing manual testing using accessibility checking software and various devices.

Ongoing Improvements

Following the DAC audit, we are actively addressing identified issues to meet WCAG version 2.1 AA standards. Content undergoing fixes will be retested with DAC. We are also monitoring third-party websites for improvements to embedded video iFrames to promptly update our site.

At Flax And Wool Designs, we are dedicated to enhancing accessibility for all users and appreciate your patience and feedback in this ongoing process.
